Dishwashers - Samsung vs. LG

I need to purchase a new dishwasher and I am considering the Samsung DMR77LHS and the LG LDF8812ST (which I believe is last year's model) as they have the same handles and will match my fridge and stove. I have read many very good reviews on both dishwashers but also some very bad reviews for both as well and so I need some further advise. Which is better?

Re: Dishwashers - Samsung vs. LG

Just my opinion here, but I'd probably go with the LG. It seems to be the better, and the quieter of the two. Especially if you can get them both for around the same price, then I'd definately go for the LG. I believe the LG has the solid sides, that better reduce vibration/noise, and add to the structural strength of the unit.

[ Edited ]

Both units are considered top notch, and have the biggest feature that I love In a lot of today's dishwashers.  Neither of them vent hot steam out into the kitchen. This is great not only to keep the kitchen cool, and not wreck your counter tops, but having a little one on the way, the best thing about This feature is that there is no chance In the children getting burned from the hot steam.

the Samsung unit is more cost effective, and is the newer model. In my opinion its the unit to go with!

the Samsung unit is rated at 49dba, which is about as quiet as they come.

If it were going to my house, I can say that it would be the Samsung unit, out of those 2 options.

hope that helps

Re: Dishwashers - Samsung vs. LG

Great! Thank so very much for the help. I visited the local Future Shop and they haven't had anyone report any problems with the Samsung as long as they have been carrying it. It is also a much better price than the LG so I think I've made my choice. Thanks again!

Go with the LG !!

Both units are fairly quiet, however the LG has sealed sides and bottom, so excess noise is less likely to escape. The LG also condenses in the door instead of the sides of the tub, making spotty dishes a thing of the past. It's 16 place settings instead of 14, and the water pressure is adjusted on delicate or pots and pans scrub feature, instead of just increasing or decreasing the amount of time. ( you wouldn't use the same hose as you use to pressure wash your driveway to water your flower garden, would you ? ) As a further bonus LG is still made in Korea and not in china. If you don't look closely at the features and specs, I can understand why the confusion, after all, they both look like good units with stainless interior and nylon racks, but a dishwasher is so much more than that !

Re: Dishwashers - Samsung vs. LG

Tough choice between the two...I think I read somewhere that both are equally quiet and below 50 dBa is really good.  Plus, both companies have the North American hard food disposer (garbeurator) and they are still quiet - European dishwashers lack the disposer.

Since everything audio is from Samsung in my house, I would have to go with the Samsung dishwasher for the only differential between them and LG are the fact that the Samsung buttons are adapted from the television technology...smooth and touch sensitive and no need for cleaning or worrying about membrane buttons wearing out.

Another thing I like about both dishwashers is the ease of installation...Samsung has a tar like membrane package for insulation and the LG has a solid steel surface casing.  Both dishwashers will just slide into the cabinetry without tufts of insulation or plastic catching...

Good luck with your pick...
