Samsung Kitchen Appliances.

I love the look of the Samsung kitchen appliances specially the cool blue thermometers on the fridge door. Are they any good? I have used Samsung cell phones, TV and other A/V equipment and they were decent.

Re: Samsung Kitchen Appliances.

The Samsung Appliances are rated very well by Consumer Reports, and other sites. They seem to give the greatest bang for the buck in terms of features for price. They are some of the most efficeient and luxurious appliances out there. If you have them, you are sure to be impressed.

The only small drawback to Samsung Appliances is that at present it is difficult to find local repair people in some markets. Samsung originates out of Korea and occasionally parts or circuit diagrams are difficult to come by. Samsung at present does not offer the same training opportunities for repair people that Whirlpool or GE do.

Therefore... If and only IF you have problems, they are currently more difficult to resolve for a Samsung than other Brands.

That being said, Samsungs retain their very good reputation by having very few problems to begin with. Like every brand out there, Samsung has good and bad models. Know what you are buying. Ask a lot of questions to make sure you are buying a good one.

Just a suggestion. Make sure to very carefully measure your space for your appliances before you buy. Height, width, and depth. You don't want to buy the best fridge on the market only to discover it doesn't fit when you get it home.

Re: Samsung Kitchen Appliances.

Thanks a lot Kayne,

I really appreciate you good advices.

I will go to the store and kick the tires.I guess, I will have to purchase the extended warranty with FS. I was not aware about the repairshop shortage in some markets.

You are welcome surenjj. Future Shop's Product Service Plan is a great investment on any product. It goes far beyond the manufacturers warranty. It is a small investment for peace of mind.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Enjoy your new appliances.

Hi. Thanks for the info. Very usefull since I am about to purchase SIX new appliances.  I am definately looking at the Samsung products, they are really nice.  I do agree that you need the extended warranty for sure.  I bought a new Samsung 55" LCD TV just before the Olympics and I love it.

Good choice on the TV! I managed to actually GO to the Olympics, and I have to say, The Olympics in HD is the next best thing to actually being there.

I can't wait for the 2010 Paralympics to start! Once again, the Canadian hockey team looks unbeatable.

Re: Samsung Kitchen Appliances.

Kanye - good call on checking the height and depth of the Samsung fridges.  I had another bottom mount fridge that unfortunately had to come back to the store because of the height...they make such great fridges but they definitely have a disadvantage for trying to fit into older homes with less than 71" clearance.

We have a local service company that has received all of his Samsung accreditations - they are doing their due diligence to train the technicians and the parts are stocked in Ontario and in California.  Parts are also less expensive for both Samsung and LG when compared to Whirlpool and Maytag.  My rep also told me they have an internal service team for both tv's and appliances to work on heavy workloads and / or special case scenarios.

Bottom line though, if you calculate the number of open box items and service calls for all the other manufacturers, Samsung, LG and Bosch certainly have the least to worry about.
