I just took delivery of a Whirlpool Side by Side refrigerator October 20th, and the paint is failing in one spot on the front door ... :-(

This is a small area beside the handle, approximately 3" round ... where it appears the paint has worn away showing a darker area underneath ... :-(

No abrasion, scuff marks or damage showing ...

I called Whirlpool, and was told there was no problem with the paint, and that it was 'cosmetic', and was only covered for 7 days ... :-(

I'm shocked to say the least!

I would expect the finish on a kitchen appliance to last for years ... or the lifetime of the appliance ...

Is there anything I can do?

The paint failure was first noticed today ... November 6th ...

***Problem Solved***

Visited local FutureShop that I purchased the Whirlpool Fridge from ... was told that they have a 30 day exchange program ... no problem at all ... :-)

Was told that 'they spray them pretty thin at times' ...

Seems the paint was so thin ... when you wiped it down with anything other than water, the undercoat soaked it up and I got a dark blotch showing on the face of the door ...

No extra charges involved ... in fact ... they are on  sale now ... $100 cheaper ... so they're exchanging the fridge next week ... and FutureShop refunded the difference ... ;-)

I'm a Very Happy Customer ... of FutureShop ... :-)

NOT Whirlpools 7 day cosmetic warranty on their appliance finishes !!!!
