Buzzing sound from speakers

I've setup a surround system that consists of a Sony STR-DN1010 receiver, RM75 surround and PSW10 sub. I've just noticed that a buzzing sound is coming out of the speakers.

I've also noticed since I installed the receiver a large band of purple colour running verticaly from bottom to to on the screen. It can be seen clearly on a black background. Does anyone know what might be causing these issues?

Re: Buzzing sound from speakers

For your speaker hookup, make sure that your wires are attached correctly. Look for a line on one side of your wires ( or writing ) and decide if that side of your wires will be used as positive or negative ( red or black post ). Make sure that the part comming off your Receiver Positive post goes to the Positive post on your speakers....and the same for the Negative with all speakers. If one speaker isn't hooked up correctly it can cause you problems. For the sub, you only have to plug into either the Right or Left line input as you have no LFE. Turn your " Low pass " filter fully clockwise which will in effect create an LFE input. These hookups will ensure that your Speakers and Sub are at least hooked up correctly.

Re: Buzzing sound from speakers

I double checked all connections and all were fine but I've just realized that the buzzing sound and the purple bands across the TV are caused by interference from my satelite receiver. When I disconnect its connections (coax audio and video) from the Sony receiver all of the issues disappear. Would you know how to fix this interference issue?
