Which of your "home theatre in a box" surround-sound systems handle DTS Master Audio?
And why is that not clearly stated in the model Specifications online for each home theatre receiver or system?

I worked in Custom home theatre sales and set up for 8 years and found that DTS master audio was not something that was found in your basic HTIB set up. This was in mid to higher end receivers that were added to speaker systems for a custom set up. Your basic HTIB is for the average consumer who wants to have surround sound at a bargain price.

Thanks for the response, but I was hoping to hear from Future Shop directly.
It turns out that the Sony 5.1 Channel 3D Home Theatre System (HTSS380) DOES Master Audio. It is written right on the outside of the box: dts-HD. Sony's site also refers to dts-HD. What I did not know was that dts-HD = Master Audio...
Too bad I had already taken your advice and purchased a midrange Pioneer receiver, but I'm happy with that.

I did not deal with sony products so I was unaware that they offered it.But now I know. I am glad you found something that works for you and I am sure it will sound great.

with the exception of some surround bars, virtually all HTIB's are capable of decoding DTS Master Audio. Its pretty much a Blu Ray standard now.
a few years back, there was DTS HD High Resolution and DTS HD Master Audio. some components had both, and some only had 1. Now we just have the one format (master audio), which is fully backwards compatible with all other versions of DTS.

dts-HD does NOT equal Master Audio. If it has MA that's great, but don't assume dts-HD = MA, only dts-ma = dts-ma.
If it doesn't say "Master Audio" under the symbol then you'd need to look up specifications. dts-HD can simply refer to dts-HD High Resolution which is not the full lossless suite.

dts MA would be overkill on a HTiB. How could you hear a difference between DD and dts MA on speakers that worth 25$ each at best?????
