HELP - My receiver and speakers

[ Edited ]

I just bought a receiver (Denon AVR-2311 CI) and a speak package (KEF KHT1505). Do they work well together?

Furthermore, I bought banana plugs (please see the following picture) before I received the KEF, and I found these banana plugs only fit the receiver. I can not use this banana plugs with my speakers:

Could you please advise what kind of plug I should use with my speakers? Or, I can only use the bare speaker cable?

Thanks and regards,

Re: HELP - My receiver and speakers

Can you show us a picture of the back of your speakers? We won't be able to know if something will fit it without knowing what the input looks like.

Re: HELP - My receiver and speakers

I haven't personally seen this input type before, but it looks like you should be able to push in at the bottom in an upward direction, and then insert the speaker wire in the opening that is created, and then let go for it to be held in place. It doesn't look like you will need any special adapter or input in order to make your speaker wire work with it. Just make sure to match the colour on the wire up with the appropriate slot on the speaker.

Re: HELP - My receiver and speakers

It works well inserting the wire directly as what you described. My concern is that when the speakers are working, if it is possible the constant vibration will cause damage to the wire as time goes by. I thought it might be better if I can connect using some connectors, e.g. pin connectors.

Re: HELP - My receiver and speakers

I wouldn't think so, or at the very least, if it does, it will take a long time. Good news is, standard speaker wire is fairly cheap and easily replaced should that happen over time. My speakers are hooked up in a similar way (no connectors, just the basic wire) and I've had them for well over a year with no problems and no degredation in the wire.

Re: HELP - My receiver and speakers

Sounds good. It's really helpful. I will go with the direct connection.

Thank you so much!
