I've had the Pioneer VSX-920-K for about a week now. I have the rogers HD box connected to it using HDMI cable and a HDMI cable running from the receiver to the TV. The problem is sometimes when I switch channels, the TV goes black or get snow noise without any sound. Sometimes I get picture and sound but the picture is kind of pixelated. I changed the cables but still the same problem.
Do you think the receiver is defective?

Hi,
I'm more leaning to believe that the HD box may be the issue. It happens on occasion where the signal strength weakens and you end up with a temporarily pixelated picture or a lack of sound or where channels will cut out and you'll be left with low level white noise and a black screen-- although it's really less the box's fault and more of the cabling through houses and from digital cable source.
An easy way to sort this out is by removing the receiver from the circuit. Directly connect your HD box via HDMI to the TV and see if you get better results!
I hope this helped!
