Sony 5.1 Channel Home Theatre System (HTSS370)

Assuming this was plug and play I replaced my previous Sony 5.1 with this in the box package to save space.

Using Rogers HD Explorer 8300HD connected with HDMI >>> Receiver >>>> to Sharp HDTV Aquos

1080 visuals perfect

Audio Problems

NOt  picking up most HD channels in 5.1 ( or  Receiver not converting the signal)  Have tried on several Pro Logic settings . ( PL MOvie  11 etc) r ABC Buffalo which always transmits in 5.1  is only output in  2.0 , likewise for all the other major channels. Golf Channel  surprisingly Pro Logic is working  .

Previoulsy recoreded HD 5.1 MOvies that played  in 5.1 with my old Sony receiver only coming through in 2.0

Same issue with DVD using coaxial connection only sound in 2.0  despite DTS compatible and config correctly

Is there any setting on the receiver that I may have missed on  the initial t up that's preventing the signal from being converted?? The set up looks very basic so I'm confused.

Thanks

Re: Sony 5.1 Channel Home Theatre System (HTSS370)

The receiver is converting the signal but there is no sound through the rear speakers.( the indicators are very small)   The speakers are connected correctly as per the Sony auto calibration . But no "" apparent""" sound not even ambient sound... LOL... What a nightmare...

Re: Sony 5.1 Channel Home Theatre System (HTSS370)

I guess the receiver has to be cranked to 20+ to produce ambient noise on the  mini Sony surround speakers... Oh well   lets see how long before I re connect the Paradigms :smileyhappy:

But in all fairness to this " Sony in the Box system"  it does sound OK( clean )  at 22-23 level  especially for  a product at the 350.00 price point.
