Down sizing from monster home theatre system to new Sharp LED flat panel with Yamaha YSP2200 sound projector and am wondering if I should connect PVR and BD to the YSP sound bar and use it to switch the source or send to TV for same?
Also wondering why TVs manual says to connect optical audio to AVRx when HDMI is also connected?

Plug all devices into the Yamaha bar. That is the only way to get the uncompressed audio signals for BluRay. HDMI will carry audio from youTV set top box as well.
You do need to plug in an optical cable from the TV if you are using any of the "widgets" of the TV like Netflix or You Tube, also for the built ATSC tuner (antenna)
So, you should have the HDMI from the sound bar to the TV and then a Optical cable from the TV to the sound bar.
Hope that helps, Happy Holidays!
