hdmi cables?

I have a 120 hertz rated hdmi cable from my cable box and the tv looks great. However from my ps3 the blueray movies are not as good as what they should be. I'm using a "cheeper" cable on the ps3,but the hd games i play look great. does ps3 blueray paly at 120? or should i get a new cable? I have a 55" 120hertz tv.

Re: hdmi cables?

Shouldn't be an issue, I have my PS3 hooked up to a 1080p plasma and its phenominal! Have you tried another HDMI cable to see if there's any difference? You may have to change a setting in your PS3, its impossible for me right now to try and guide you through it because my belongings are in storage. When I hooked my system up I made some changes in my PS3 Settings and the Blu-Ray quality is awesome.

Re: hdmi cables?

The refresh rate shouldn't have anything to do with overall picture quality.  Your PS3 will only run at 24, 30 and 60 Frames Per Second.  Your TV is "upscaling" the refresh rate to 120Hz.

When you push the "info" or "display" button on your remote for your TV, the resolution should display and say 720p/1080i or 1080P.  If it does not, you need to go the settings menu, display options and change the resolution to 1080p.  It should prompt you to auto find the resolution.

Re: hdmi cables?

At lengths under 25ft there is zero difference in performance between a $5 HDMI cable and a $500 HDMI cable. Do not be fooled into playing the cable game.

Re: hdmi cables?

make it under 8 feet and yes there is a difference in the connectors and the lyability of the signal sent.
