new to home theatre

Hello everyone,

I hope I can get help here because I feel so overwhelmed by the options we have nowadays with home theatre systems.

First here is what I have:

TV: Samsung 50" 1080p Plasma HDTV** (PN50C540)

Wii

PS2

DVD player

Bell receiver.

My question is , what kind of sound system could accomodate this?  do i need to connect the audio from those units direct to the sound receiver or can i just output from tv into a single in on the sound receiver?

Thanks for your help.

Re: new to home theatre

There are several different options with this situation. Home theatre can be an art/puzzle sometimes.

With most newer receivers you will be able to plug in all of your audio and video into your receiver and have only one HDMI cable from your receiver to your TV.

So in this situation to make it easier for you would be to get a receiver with a sub/sattelite system which is a good starter system, but you are still able to upgrade to larger speakers or a nicer receiver in the future. See the link below :smileyhappy:

This sounds awesome,  I've got a few more questions for you then.

So HDMI does sound and video in 1 cable?   If i get a blueray with 1080p will this receive output that too?

Yes, an HDMI Cable will transfer BOTH audio and video at the same time.  If you get a Blu Ray player, you can also run that through your A/V Receiver. The HDMI cable from your Receiver ( HDMI Out ) will then transfer any of your Inputs to the TV.
