Hi Guys,
Do any of you know if we can expect to see this in the future shop lineup?
If so/when?
Thanks,

Yes, what appears to be the hotest camera from Canon ever, and silence from Futureshop regarding their plans to sell this model!

Remember, FS is a consumer electronics store with a camera department, not a specialized camera store that stocks every single camera body and lens under the sun.

For those keen on the new 5DM3.... a warning about the exposure metering.
It's been reported that using the LCD light in dark environments will affecting the metering. Ambient light on the top LCD will enter the exposure metering circuits to again mess up the metering...

Hmm... does this mean the camera can't be trusted outdoors in bright light, nor in total darkness?
BTW.... looking at this Canon release. Does it mean we are safe in Canada?

For those that did not hear..... the 5DM3 shipments are now suspended in Canada. Once local stores run out.... you will need to purchase the 5DM3 in another country...

The camera will be re-stocked once the light leak issue is addressed. Rumour has it that a firmware update is all that is required.
So, once again- when will FS introduce this model?

I don't think any retailer can commit to sales as long as the manufacturer is not making a product available in their country. Latest announcement is Canon UK has joined Canada in suspending the 5DM3.
Firmware may resolve the situation if the light leak can be compensated by the LCD light coming on.

However in bright conditions, sunlight on the LCD will also mess up exposure metering from the leakage. This cannot be fixed by firmware and requires a complete recall to "gut" the body open to seal up the light leak. Some have suggested applying duct tape to the LCD.

The problem is fixed for new models, but check your serial numbers! The defective US models are identified here... no word if Canadian models are identified the same way.
Products whose sixth digit in the serial number is 1 or 2 are affected. (e.g. “xxxxx1xxxxxx” or “xxxxx2xxxxxx” ([x] represents any optional number).
There's a lot of these defective models in the supply chain. If you get one, then either the problem needs to be fixed. If it has been fixed, the camera is basically "refurbished" as they had to "gut" the $3,500 camera open to seal the leak. Hmm.... I wonder if they issue new serial numbers to identify the fixed models.
