I was thinking of experimenting with HDR a little bit, just to try it out, but I keep forgetting to set the camera to the RAW format so that I can have all the actual data. I'm pretty sure you can also do it with jpegs, but the RAW image is definitely the better option. I actually saw some really cool ones that friends of friends had posted on Facebook... Very very cool (and the colours are so vibrant).

First off let me say the playground pictures looks fantastic. Now to my point :smileyhappy:
Although shooting RAW then post-processing different levels provides a method of HDR, it's actually going to produce better pictures if you can simply snap a few different exposures of the actual photo using a tripod or matching up the crops later.

Yeah, that was actually how they had done it.  That seems to be the way to get the most impressive HDR photos, but I have to admit, Graham's photos are pretty cool, even if it just was done with changing the exposures in Aperture.

Thanks for the feedback folks :smileyhappy: This particular play park is actually in port moody - but I know the one you're talking about in Kits, it's similar.

The The night shot of Vancouver was done with multiple exposures. The most recent three were built from a single raw. I think I'm going to have to invest in Noise Ninja - that night shot was stuffed with noise that makes it look rough.

Marie - fantastic pic. It's got a slightly melancholy look to it - I like it! Welcome to the forum.

All this talk of HDR makes me feel like I should be taking more bracketed exposures to get maximum image data.  How many stops diff in exposure for each if compositing 3 photos?  This is definitely something I want to try.

Maybe 1 full stop in either direction. I've found better results by using shorter/longer exposures, though.
Of course that only works on still life (although some weird results can be had).

How do I post pctures on here? I tried posting and it said it had to be from a server. Why can't I just upload like I do on facebook?

Don't use imageshack - they're blocked in workplaces EVERYWHERE.

If you're only uploading a few pics now and then, use flickr.com - they've got Canadian roots and it generally isn't websensed (blocked).
