As a kid I used to always try to take shots like this without any of the know-how to make it work. This is the first one with my Sony Alpha 350k and I'm very happy with it.

That said, I was talking to a friend the other day and he made a very good point: even with thousands of dollars in gear, if the creative spark isn't there the pictures won't be what you want them to be. You captured something very cool with your point and shoot - and I think others would agree with me that you (and everyone else who has posted in this thread so far) have a drive to make photographs that you find interesting and visually appealing. That's more important than even the most expensive L-glass, in my opinion.
Aaaaand now I sound like a sunday afternoon special. But you get the point
