Is the canonT3 with the EF-S18-55 mm F/3.5-5.6 IS II lens at future shop an image stabilize lens or not .I thought that is what the IS stood for, but in the specs of the camera, under len image stabilize says no, so now iam confused. same thing at a competer ad so not sure what is or is not an image stabilizer lens

the ad says IS but in the specs of the camera section says no, so confused about lenses, looking for my first dslr camera
EF-S18-55 mm F/3.5-5.6 IS II this is the lens in the ad but when i go to look at the specs of the camera, it says no to image stabaliziation.

To clarify.... is this the ad you are referring to?
OK.... I think I see what you're looking at..... I think it is a typo. Need someone from Future Shop to verify it.

You mentioned this is your first DSLR......
I strongly recommend visiting the store and try out the 18-55mm... I know many who have tried the 18-55mm and hated it because the zoom range was too limited. Also when your subject is more than 6 feet from you, you find yourself needing a 55-200mm. But now you are stuck with carrying two lenses and risk getting dust in the camera.
Personally, I recommend getting an 18-200mm as your starter lens. The added zoom range is more practical for a beginner. As you get more advancd, get a 50mm to minimize distortion and maximize light. If not, consider f/2.8 lenses.
Future Shop does not sell camera bodies for entry cameras. So you might need to visit a proper camera store.
Finally, I like Nikon.
