i bought dx3000 nikon camera and tried to operate. when i press shutter button it does press

I think that's a typo..... I think you have a Nikon D3000 DSLR..... what happens when you press the shutter release?   It takes a picture?

Is there a memory card in the camera already? If not you must go into the menu and enable shutter release without memory card as it will not allow the shutter to snap a shot without that setting enabled.
