Google Maps Mobile 4.01 => Voice Search!

OK.... I saw this article (http://crackberry.com/google-maps-updated-v4-0-1-now-includes-buzz-layer) and I'm so excited.

Google Maps Mobile 4.0.1 just got released today.... biggest feature.... voice searching!  I can now search and grab transit information faster than I can type it in on my Blackberry.  It's now my favourite app.

Lol, I used it and it ended up finding a location in Taiwan... I wasn't impressed.  Plus, when trying to search for Beatty St, it kept coming up with BT or beady St.  Nope... back to good old text input in (competitor) Maps.

Not all streets are elegant for voice recognition (eg Beatty).

However, city names work well.  I notice something like "500 West Broadway", works really fast, especially on wifi.

If I say "Future Shop", it shows nearby retail locations in the general area of the map I'm displaying.  If I say "Future Shop Toronto" or "Future Shop Edmonton" it shows store locations which I'm not familar with.

It does take some practice.
