The cost you'd be looking to upgrade your phone is the Telus early upgrade price (the monthly fee X number of months you have left) plus the cost of the phone on the selected term. ie: an iPhone 4S 16GB is 159.99 on a 3-year contract, you'd pay that, plus the early upgrade fee.
Hope this answers your question. ![]()

It depends on the particular phone. The best way is to login under your account on Telus website, and click on the link where you can view your upgrade offers.
Telus moves to a "device balance" concept. For most higher-end smartphones, the way to calculate is this:
(Monthly credit balance deduction) = (Device discount you received initially) / (# months on contract)
(Device balance) = (Device discount you received initially) - (# months you are into the contract) * (Monthly credit balance deduction)
So if you want to upgrade the phone, you basically have to be responsible for the (device balance) + (cost of the phone under a new contract), in addition to a new contract. For some lower-end phones though, you'll be paying an outright cost with no contract nenewal.
