Smartphone safe temperatures

Hello.

Is there any kind of gadget or device that can be used to keep a smartphone safe from freezing while being left in a cold car?

Thanks

Re: Smartphone safe temperatures

To be honest, I haven't heard of anything like that, but it begs the question - why are you leaving/planning on leaving a smartphone in a car in freezing temperatures? They are sensitive pieces of equipment not really designed to be left in cold temperatures.

Any way to leave it with security (as I'm assuming you're heading into HSZs that don't allow them)?

Some cars have climate controlled glove boxes.  Usually it's to keep chocolate bars from melting.

How cold are we talking? What does the manual say?  What phone is this? At minus 10, I wouldn't be concerned about a quick trip.  Moisture would be a bigger concern, instead of a dry car interior.  If it was a problem..... would car CD players and radios be a problem?

Or is your question about dead batteries from the cold?

If you are really concerned, you can get an insulated lunch or shopping bag to capture some heat from your car heater before sealing it.  Otherwise, toss a reuseable hand warmer.  The hand warmer work around 54C for about an hour.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hand_warmer
