The resolution is impressive.  I believe it's 320 x 480, but the image is clear, easy to see, and you don't see any of the individual pixels (its a nice flowing picture).  The image quality is the same as on the Bold, and apparently the new Curve.  After seeing the Bold, I'd personally avoid it as it's just too big a phone for me, but the Storm and the new Curve share a nice size.  The Bold is fine if you have a bag to put it in, but a pretty big holster is required if you want it on your hip.

Just my opinion! :smileyhappy:

Update

Just wanted to let you all know, I just got my new Storm (replacement), and we've tried it out, and the camera works!  I'll take a few clicks in the Winter Wonderland that is Vancouver tomorrow so I can update my review!

Storm 9530

Best ever review I have seen so far. Thank you, Krypto. I did google a while back and am surprised it did not pickout this forum. Glad you will be getting a replacement soon.

Here's what I am struggling with. I currently own (for work not personal, enterprise) 8703 Blkberry data only no voice or browser. Not a heavy texter but do respond to emails when away from the office. Is the either keyboard a real challenge if one use hardware keyboard? A learning curve I suppose. I also use a 5 year old V710 Motorola and now need a change. Going to Rogers with their expensive data/talk plan for Iphones not a logical choice though am a Mac user.

Talked to Telus today, no stock till Jan.09. Futureshop is reporting to have some by the weekend. Have a talk/data plan setup in my file at Telus. Was just awaiting more stock to come. Iphones too are available at Futureshop.

Telus was reporting to have OS updated to most current, how about Futureshop?? Updating/flashing OS and Firmware can be a real tricky issue I presume via PC?

I think I will await till Dec.19 if Futureshop does have stock I can give it a spin.

Any truth about Microsoft ever trying to bid for RIM? Canadian dollar being low once again, takeovers/buyout sure become attractive once again.

Hey zimer, well I'm actually responding on my new one rig...

Hey zimer, well I'm actually responding on my new one right now. I just found out today that most stores will be getting more stock in. It'll still be limited, but there is more stock planned for most stores on Friday. Future Shop will be getting the Telus phone so their stock will have the most recent firmware as well. As to the keyboard, I have made a few mistakes in typing this but not as many as I thought I'd make - I'm apparently getting better! I'm also guessing that they will come out with a bluetooth keyboard at some point in the near future. According to the Telus and blackberry guys, updates are easier with a PC, but there is a version of the desktop software for Apple too. But yes, the updates are managed by a real computer running the desktop software. As to your final question, I had heard something a while back as well, but I don't think anything is going to happen there. I hope you enjoy your new phone as much as I am if you do end up getting it!

Storm 9530

Stopped by at Futureshop though its mentioned in their new flyer sales clerk would not confirm arrival in case shipping was delayed. Apparently there is a waiting list. Telus sales force are supposed to demo the storm starting till dec.21.

Will stop by as sure would like to the see demo. Futureshop is advertising a $100 gift card upon sign-up. Not bad at all.

Krypto, is the touch screen too sensitive that while answering the phone and holding the phone to the ear most likely other apps open up??

Other applications don't open up while you're on the phone, but you can easily click it and have it select speakerphone or mute accidentally.  I have a feeling this is something that will be improved upon in future fixes, but just to be safe, I might try passing this info on to BlackBerry, or maybe see if they already have a possible solution.  For now though, that is a bit of an issue.  But now that I'm aware of it, I haven't had the problem happen again since as I now know to be careful, so...

Storm Demo - Telus

Up-Date.

Telus was suppose to be at Futureshop on Sunday in Edmonton to demo the Storm. What a disappointment, no one from Telus showed up.

Just had a question

I'm new to these boards I haven't figured out how to make a new thread yet... If you could let me know how that would be awesome.. Or if you have any information on the phone. .IM thinking of buying one.. But I'm not sure if there any good? I've heard they crash a lot. But not sure if its true. Was wondering if you happened to know anything about them or the quality. And what the best plan would be to put on it.. If you could help id really appreciate it.. Thanks in advance

Hey shaybabe, to answer your first question, you can crea...

Hey shaybabe, to answer your first question, you can create a new thread by clicking on the forum you want your message to be posted to (e.g. Communications), then up near the top (under your Profile Name), there is a link that say New Message.  Click this and you can create a new thread.

Second, I've now had my Storm for 15 days and it's great.  It does freeze up a bit every once in a while if it's trying to do too much at once, but give it a second and it's back no problem.  Problems with crashing occured on the Verizon phones because they were released far to early.  The new OS on the Telus phones (and now the updated Verizon phones) is much more stable.  New updates (which you can check for every time you connect your Blackberry Storm to your computer) will be released that will resolve any further problems that come up.  As to quality, they seem like a very solid phone, and I'm very impressed with the quality thus far (feels much better than a Pearl and much more solid than even a Curve).  But since it is a brand new product, no one really knows just what the long term quality will be like.  This is the nature of new technology though.  But if you get an extended warranty that lasts for the duration of your contract, you'll be covered.  From what I've seen, I think they'll be pretty decent.

Finally, as to plan, the size of your plan will depend on how much you use your phone for data services.  I used my normal voice plan and simply added a data plan.  I now have unlimited email, instant messaging and data, and this is highly recommended if you intend to use YouTube a lot, etc.  The unlimited plan is priced at $30.  There are other plans too if you only use a limited amount of data.  You can learn more about this by checking out Telus Mobility's site!

Hope this info helps, but feel free to ask if you have any other Storm related questions.
