I am sure I read that max was 16gb from an advertisement in print. Read several specs at various spots today none mentioned max size, mmm...
Creating folders from the PC on the sd card but able to read once plugged in is another issue. I recall when I was trying to download viigo (application) it never asked me a location but did when I downloaded some free wallpapers and I chose "media card". Concern was only if I were to download several apps like viigo, google maps etc doesn't this take internal memory?? Idea was not to use up on-board memory and install on sd. I have a 1gd sd card in my Motorola I could try to create folders and then plug in to Storm and see if it allows me to read besides pics.
Does viigo work as its supposed to? it too is in beta stage, correct?
How come RIm didn't think of making the back cover with slots to store sd cards?

I thought I had seen 16GB as the max as well, but I haven't seen them around anywhere as of yet (but maybe I just haven't looked in the right places). As to the applications, I think the Storm has it's own application memory that is specifically meant for applications. So yes, while loading these programs on does take up internal memory, it would take a lot of programs to run out of space. If you look under Options > Memory, you'll see that the free space for the application is listed there. Mine currently shows 17.2MB of free space available. Most programs only take between 20-200KB of memory, so that should give plenty of space for applications.
And yup, Viigo is still in Beta mode, so you often have to hold the back button for longer, or you need to press it a second time. I'm expecting a full program for that relatively soon too.
Finally, slots in the back cover would've been a great idea

Krypto, did you ever try or did install leaked version 4.7.0.85 yet?? Been checking other sites and really don't get too much feed back. Some have complained battery drain or slow browser and seem pleased but not specifying in what way? Didn't see much info @ (competitor) as it's a leaked and not an official version. Does anybody have any notes on what improvements were to be from .76? Is the leaked a final version or is it a beta awaiting input from developers/beta testers to what needs to be worked on prior official release?
I know you did instal viigo, is it programmable for canadian cities (US for sure) or just metropolitan Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver maybe Calgary for local content?? I sure wouldn't want to know whats the weather like in Toronto or Montreal? Did all FAQ's and I see that it mention US and UK cities. Point being if no local content is available except international news or sports kinda pointless if I can't get weather info for Edmonton or flight info etc....
Bifocal did find notes at (competitor) that lists after OS 4.5 32 gb SD supported? Wow!
! Gonna go out to look for 16gb preferably sandisk. Now that my storm is working fine, I will now install desktop software and download my contacts etc.. Kinda was worried that the dealer would have to re-set my storm hence losing all info on it.

First off, regarding Viigo... I just went through the Weather tab (below Elections 2008) on mine, clicked Add City, selected metric, typed in Edmonton, got it to search and it found it no problem (just selected Edmonton Canada (Alberta) and it was good to go). Apparently it's currently -25C... OUCH!!! (I'll take Vancouver's 3C any day!).
Second, I haven't tried the new beta version and think I'm going to avoid it, just in case. I'd try it if I had access to the current OS to reload just in case something went wrong, but I don't so... From what I was reading though, it's smoother than the current version, and supposed to be faster for some things. I'm thinking the new update will be out later this month.
Third, this is an extra goody for all the new Storm owners out there. There is now an application that locks your phone while you're talking on it, meaning you don't have to worry about hitting the screen with your cheek, etc. And if you need to access the phone while you're on it, you just swipe your finger over the screen to unlock it. Very neat and a must have! It's called TalkLock and can be found at www.cellavant.com/TalkLock. I've tried it out and so far so good. Best part? It's free!

Nice apps review! I've been a bit reluctant to install most right now, just because many are still in beta and haven't been fully worked to take advantage of all the Storm's features.
I saw that about IE and Firefox, but hadn't yet tried it, so that's actually really good to know! Thanks!

Thanks for the input. I have the link on my (competitor). Now its time to shop for a 16gb sd card. FAQ's for viigo didn't mention other than US and UK cities so was reluctant.
I agree with your approach on .85 OS! I presume the final version might have other improvements after beta test. Think will await final release. Telus site now has both desktop and OS 4.7, just seen it yesterday. It also showed the basic user guide for Storm. Is there a Canadian version of the complete guide probably same as US version which I have.
-25C, come on now. You ought have looked at temp thru holidays, windchill was @ 0-37C, Bbrrrrrr. Now that's cold. Forecast for coming weekend much nicer -3C, its about time. While we went thru some harsh weather in Edmonton, interior BC, floods and manitoba too,
Will download TalkLock, did happen to me just yesterday when answering calls. Someone ought have listings setup in the forum so we all can list apps that work for Storm. Did find a free and pay listing at (competitor).com and a separate listing for "not tested" for storm apps. Can't recall seeing such list at this forum.
I sure hope I can find a 16gb SD card this weekend so I can download whole bunch of apps, utilities and games. Did you ever download the hockey night cbc theme? I did, is great.

That's a great idea! I'll start an application thread tonight that people can add to (just give me a bit to pull things together)! Good one zimer!

Unable to find 16gb Micro Sd Card nor anybody was able to confirm if one was available. So connected to Sandisk Canadian site, none were listed either. However Sandisk US site did but SDHC "high capacity". Here's the address: www.sandisk.com/Corporate/Default.aspx?C
Not sure if the High Capacity will work without a hitch as opposed to regular Micro SD card. It's $99 US plus shipping. i will contact Sandisk shortly. Did spend enough time at Blackberry forum and support documents for Storm, could not find anything either.
Anybody have any clues if a "high capacity" will work??
