Lol!  The OS that comes on the phone should be 4.7.0.76.  It's currently the most stable OS, but as you'll discover, it'll be nice when the official update comes out (just to make things faster/smoother), even though everything works as is!

As to trying out the leaked OSes and such, make sure you read all of the relevant BlackBerry 101s (like a lecture series/instruction manual), especially the ones on how to install the OS, how to fix a bricked BlackBerry, and how to use this great little program called jl_cmder (will help you wipe the OS off the phone if you need to start from scratch).  Unfortunately, due to the nature of this forum, I'm not really sure how much more I can technically go into this.  As to downloading applications, I haven't purchased any yet (waiting for the new OS), but I've downloaded a few free ones.  For most of those, you can simply get them from the developer's site or by Googling the name (e.g. Viigo).

I hope you enjoy it and welcome to the happy world of crackberries! :smileytongue: :smileyhappy:

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions, and if you want, you can also check out the official BlackBerry Support Forums (also managed by the same people who do the Future Shop Forums - Lithium) over at http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/

Alright i went and installed Viigo, and i must say i love it already very handy thats for sure. Now my next question is how do you make your own ringtons with the programs that came with the Storm? I was told by the sales rep at the Telus store that it you could do it, i'm just not sure if i'm looking in the right place.

I haven't done it yet, but if you can, it would be via the Media Manager that comes with your Desktop Messenger CD.  I remember taking a look once and am pretty sure I saw something there for it.  Unfortunately, I don't have my own computer right now (am working off my boyfriend's laptop until I get mine back), so I don't have the program installed, but I'm pretty sure I saw it there! :smileyhappy:

yea from what i've been reading it sounds like you can make your own ringtones using the Media Manager but i can't get it to let me select edit so i'll play with it more as i get spare time, since i'm trying to use my downloaded music as parts of my ringtones. If anyone has made ringtones and has some advice on how to get it to let me edit the songs let me know.

I have to say i was pretty happy to find .99 released. I was starting to find that .90 didnt have the stability that the other OS's had. I had begun having the "memory card inserted" error more, and just seemed like i had to do battery pulls alot more often. Whereas .99 so far hasnt had a single problem. One of the fit and finish things i had listed as a con for the .90, the 123!? button didnt fit on the on screen button, has been fixed, but they seem to have made all the button fonts a bit smaller. But im glad it came out as i was going to downgrade back to .86 due to the problems i was having with .90.

I upgraded to .99 yesterday as well, and so far so good.  Looks like battery life is significantly improved, browser is a bit faster and a few other improvements.  One thing I noticed is that, like you stated Mark, the keyboard font is smaller, or just off somehow... I'm not really liking that too much, but it's fine for now. :smileyhappy:

*94

[ Edited ]

Kudos to you:smileyhappy: . I had forgotten that Telus did have the ring option however did not know it would work on a mobile. I think 6 rings is the max as I did program *949, 6th ring voice mail kicks in. Well, yet to have missed a call. This sure helped. Am from Edmonton.

Just awaiting news on official release of the OS, hoping it to be a much improved version taking away the bugs. Did download Tiltris and Nintaii, got to level 6 on Nintaii, very addictive though finding sensitivity of the Accelerometer not so responsive. I suppose it could be me. Hoping that the new OS will probably correct that.

Am sure looking forward to Blackberry's App Store Front, it's exciting news for blackberry users.

That version is actually just 4.7.0.76, the original OS that the phones came with... When it says 4.7.0.109 in the forums, that's actually the package version.

But to make this really confusing, it sounds like the next leaked OS will actually be 4.7.0.109.  Talk about confusing!  :smileytongue:
