is it possible to unlock the iphone 3gs from telus and go to koodo?

Assuming you no longer have a contract with Telus (if you did, this plan would of course not make much sense) then yes - you can get your iPhone unlocked so that it can be used with another service provider.

Just a quick note, I don't believe that Future Shop performs this service. However, I've talked about this with a rep from Rogers, and generally providers will be able to refer you to places they know that can unlock phones if you bring a locked phone in from another provider so you can use the phone on their network.

Thanks JB - I should have added that unlocking an iPhone is a procedure that neither Telus nor Future Shop will perform. However, finding either an internet based service or a real person (in your home town) to provide this service to you is easily done.

Telus does not unlock iPhones, even the device is off contract.  As of this moment, the only Canadian cell carriers that unlock iPhones officially are Rogers and Fido.

As for those "internet based service", I would use them with caution.  An iOS update may nullify the unlocking process.

call telus customer service(*611 from your telus cell phone) and ask for your phone to be unlocked. they will transfer you to their tech department and assist you to unlock your phone. there will be a one time $50 phone unlock charge. as far as i know, when you get carriers to unlock phone it doesn't void your warranty...make sure to double check when getting your phone unlocked

The topic is about iPhone on Telus.  If you read their webpage regarding unlocking of handsets:

"TELUS currently is unable to unlock any version of the Apple iPhone or any other device not listed above."

Its always been that way with Apple, they will never give out codes to unlock the Iphone, it can only be done 3ed party, and that will void the war on the Iphone no matter what you do. But if it is a 3GS then good chance you are well past the 1 year.

It's not that they don't give out codes at all - they do with Rogers and Fido.  It's due to the other carriers (eg. Bell and Telus) do not have agreements with Apple to do the same.
