RAM and Graphics for my computer

Hi guys, my name is Eric, and I'm interested in looking for some RAM for my desktop since it is in need of a upgrade.

I looked up some RAM and this one seems to interest me:

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/kingston-technology-kingston-valueram-4gb-ddr3-1333mhz-deskto...

I'm not completely sure if it will run with my desktop so here are some Specs of my computer:

  • System Manufacturer: Acer
  • System Model: Aspire M5630
  • OS Name: Windows 7 Ultimate 64x (Was originally a Windows Vista Home Premium 32x)
  • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, 2400 MHz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
  • Installed Physical Memory (RAM): 2.00 GB

So that's all my system specs. If the RAM I listed doesn't work with my desktop, can you please list one that will work and is under $100.

Other than that, I'm also interested in upgrading the graphics to my computer.

So far, I only have a stock graphics card.

  • Name: Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
  • Chip Type: Intel(R) GMA 3100
  • DAC Type: Internal
  • Approx. Total Memory: 256 MB
  • Current Display Mode: 1440 x 900 (32 bit) (60Hz)

And my monitor is a Dell SE178WPF model.

And again, a good yet affordable graphics card that doesn't mooch off the memory of the computer would be nice.

A fast response will be nice too.

Thanks again.

Re: RAM and Graphics for my computer

According to Kingston's database, the maximum supported RAM configuration for your unit is 4GB (2x2GB), so 4 is the max that you can go.

Eric: Using 2 of the same sticks will always run faster in today's computers due to dual channel technology.

Re: RAM and Graphics for my computer

First off you can't use the 4gb one from your link because it is incompatible with your system. Your system needs DDR2 ram not DDR3 ram. and running a pair of 2gb modules will allow the ram will allow it to run in dual channel mode (which will allow for a slight performance increase)

As for graphics card...

first off whats your budget?

secondly whats the wattage of your powersupply (you will have to crack your case to see - i've been unable to find out by searching your computer model on google)
