Upgrading ram

Hello, I was wondering which type of ram could be installed on my computer.

My computer is an Acer Aspire M1100 and I found out that I could install this type of ram:

DDR2 533/667/800 MHz SDRAM

Sources: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireM1100/AspireM1100sp2.shtml

I looked over the FutureShop website and I came across with this type of ram:

Can I upgrade my computer with this ram?

Re: Upgrading ram

That RAM does match your system requirements there.

Re: Upgrading ram

Hi there,

I just checked further into your computer and you should be able to use any desktop DDR2 RAM for your computer.  Here are a couple of other options that should work:

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/comstar-2gb-ddr2-240-pin-memory-me80-2g/10100859.aspx?path=fd...

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/pqi-pqi-2gb-ddr2-800mhz-desktop-memory-d2800-2g-pc-d2800-2g-p...

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/kingston-technology-kingston-2gb-ddr2-667mhz-desktop-memory-k...

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/kingston-technology-kingston-2gb-ddr2-800mhz-desktop-memory-k...

Those are just a few suggestions.  The catch is to ensure you are using 240-pin DDR2 RAM.  Personally, I'd suggest sticking with well known names such as Kingston (the last two links there are both Kingston RAM).

I hope those suggestions help!

Re: Upgrading ram

Why are the final two Kingston RAMs different in price when they're essentially the same brand and features? Plus, the one with the lower "frequency" (forgive my ignorance if that's the wrong term, I'm not very knowledgeable in computer parts and science) costs more.

Re: Upgrading ram

Not all the details are listed on the site here. There may be other factors that affect their performance, such as timings. But even that aside, the prices do not neccessarily reflect their feature set, but rather how difficult they are to manufacture and deliver. These memory chips typically get lower in price when the manufacturing process becomes cheaper to perform.
