Video card upgrade

And now, in a completely non-customer service related post... :smileyvery-happy:

Prior to now I didn't really game on the PC, but I bought into Star Wars TOR and now I'm hooked. Of course my PC isn't built for gaming, but the game at least runs acceptably on low settings with the cheap GeForce 520 I have now.

Can anyone offer their opinion on which mid-range video card I may want to upgrade to? Here are the rest of the specs:

Processor Type
Intel Core i5 2320

Processor Speed
3.0 GHz

Processor Cores

4

RAM
6GB DDR3 SDRAM

Hard Drive Capacity
1.5 TB

Hard Drive Speed (Revolutions Per Minut
5400 RPM

Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520

Windows 7 Home Premium

Re: Video card upgrade

Thanks for the response, I already wound up going with a Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 though. Very happy, SWTOR runs perfectly with all settings maxed out. Luckily I didn't have to swap the power supply out either :smileyhappy:

hmmm i would have gone with something higher up, than the 6850, that thing will likely be obsolite by next year following the unveiling of the new 7000 siries this year and the new 10 core processors.

Re: Video card upgrade

Probably good advice, most of my knowledge on video cards was aquired in the 2 days prior to purchase though. Any better though and I would almost certainly have had to swap out the power supply. Either way, it's all I need for now given that I can max out SWTOR. I've been a console gamer exclusively up until now, but if I'm still playing a lot of PC a year from now when that card goes obsolete as you say, then I will probably be more than willing to drop heavier cash on some high end upgrades, especially if SWTOR is still as addicting as it is at the present :smileyvery-happy:

unless you wish to stay on the bleeding edge, i would suggest not waiting for your current card to be obsolete but rather wait till you can no longer play the games you want to play @ the resolutions and visual settings you want to play at.

prolly strange advice coming from someone like me LOL (as i like to be on the bleeding edge)
