helppp :(:(:(:(:'(

My printer won't print in color anymore.. it's Hp Desk-jet f4435 and both ink cartridges are new and filled. I also did the align test. I've also tried uninstalling the program and installing it back.. but no effect. And yes I have "ticked" off the color setting..  I've done the tests: clean the print cartridges, print a test page, paper feed cleaning, back of page smear cleaning but no result.. please help? i need to print something for my homework :smileysad:

I own use Epson printers... A few things to check for I can quickly think of...
-what happens if you try a different program like your browser or word processor?
-does your printer driver offer a "preview" feature to see if it's in color?
-do you have a draft setting engaged?

Here's another thought....

Did you say the test pages and printer alignment test are OK in color?

I remember having a problem where I needed to "press hard" to ensure the cartridges were inserted into the holder.  Otherwise the seals would not break.

BTW... does HP have a chip on their cartridges?  Epson have a chip in their cartridges that need to be reset by a professional if you remove the cartridges to look at them.

The test pages and printer alignment are all in black in white.. and the cartidges are inserted properly..

i don't think hp has a chip on their cartridges..

Re: HP inkjet => no color

Hmm....

  • are these geniune HP cartridges... not the ones that people refill?
  • did a quick Google and it appears both HP and Epson have chipped their catridges.
  • when you inserted the cartridges, do you remember feeling TWO snaps?  Once for being inserted properly and the second time for puncturing the seal?

Re: HP inkjet => no color

Typically when a printer with a single cartridge for color won't print color even when doing self-tests then it's a problem with the cartridge or print head. Since the cartridge was just replaced I would lean towards it being the cartridge itself. Either it's not quite seated properly, or it's defective.
