we would like to purchase a amplifier/router for our wireless modem to extend the coverage in our complex so more of our guests can access the internet..... i need two of these units..

You can look at two options based on your question below. Here is what I recommend:
1. Install a high end Wireless N Router and disable the wireless on the modem that was sent to you from your service provider. By installing a new router, you'll get improved range and speed, dual band technology, guest access controls, parental controls, and the list goes on. Most service provide routers/gateways are less powerful than what is available on the market. I would recommend the Linksys E4200v2 :
2. Install Wireless N Range Extenders. You can add this to your complex to help extend the range of your existing wireless network. This is not going to speed up the connections, but will allow you to go further than what you originally had from your router.
