In answer to your question, you certainly can buy RAM at the store, and the Technicians there can usually install it for you very quickly. If you know what type of RAM you need, you can call ahead to be sure that it's available for you. Otherwise, you can just bring the machine in and have a Tech check what you need, and how much can be installed.
