Hi guys!
A colleague of mine approached me and asked if I could suggest a good laptop for him at around a $300 price point (before taxes/extra warranties). He's not looking for anything specific, and does simple web browsing, email, etc. You know, your average, basic user. I'm really swamped at work and don't have a whole lot of time to look into this, and I was just wondeirng if any of you had any suggestions you could offer. I'm only looking at Future Shop to start, and if there is nothing acceptable there, then I will branch out.
Thanks very much in advance everyone ![]()

I saw a few models at that price point but they are refurbs or clearance models. Is he okay for models like these?

If not, then he maybe be looking into netbooks or raise the price ceiling a little bit.

- Does he have a laptop now? What is the problem with it?
- Be careful with the netbook. The small screen means a lot of scrolling for web browsing. Startup time may be too slow and money wasted.
- If performance is an issue for old laptop, new laptop or netbook.... consider Ubuntu.
