The what? Do you mean the two video cards working as one? It's called CrossFire only when using two ATI video cards. When done using nVidia Video cards, it's called SLI, a term first used by a now dead company called 3Dfx, a pioneer in video card and probably the reason why we have so powerful video cards now on the market.

So if that was your question:smileytongue:, I love AND hate it:smileysurprised:!

It's quite power and as yet to be match by even $650 video cards...but it can takes hour to correctly configure and require a LOT of power(Watt).

Nah, don't take it that way... Believe me, the day I'll decide to "shot you down", it will be impossible to mistake:smileywink:.

Now, I was just being...well, myself:smileysad:. I like to teach people how things work so it was just my way of helping you with the new technology. Sorry again if you felt "shot down".

By the way, I don't know if it's the same with CrossFire, but with SLI, you can see the SLI name on the bridge between the two cards.

Also, I read in another thread that you're still looking for a new computer? You want something from Future Shop or something build from the ground up?
Until next time,

Its all good. :smileyhappy:

My company is offering a discount on Apples...grrr...just when I thought the HP A6452F with a video card upgrade (ATI Radeon HD 3870 of the Nvidia 8800GT ) and RAM upgrade would do the trick. Though I'd prefer a video card with HDMI, I believe...and correct me if I'm wrong, these two cards are DVI. I'm thinking an HP is going to be a better bet.

Could I get away with a Dual core or would I be better off with a Quad core?

I'm not going professional with my video/photo editing, its a hobby, I need a system that can handle HD video editing from the Canon HG10. I figured if such a system can handle high-end games like Crysis, then it should have no problem doing what I need it to do.

Depending on how big is your Apple discount, it could be good choice. You know, Apple does pretty good computers, overpriced, but pretty good. And you can also install Windows on Mac now so if you don't like Mac OSX, this could still be a great purchase.

Now, on the PC side of things, all the HD 3xxx and up (meaning the new HD 4xxx) are supposed to support HDMI WITH audio, out of the box, so if you're looking for an HDMI connection, AMD(ATi) would be the way to go. The minute FS start selling that new series, the HD 4xxx, the HD 3xxx price are probably going to go down...that or you could get a HD 4850 or 4870 for not too much(MSRP of $199 and $299).

As for the processor, I would suggest you go with a Quad Core. While they're slower for the same price(because you have less MHz for the same price as a dual), for editing, it could improve the performance by a lot. Don't mix up games like Crysis and other software. It's not because one doesn't works with Quad that none of them do.

And don't forget about the RAM. For you, 4GB is the perfect amount. With Vista 64 of course:smileywink:.

[ Edited ]
I have to get the e-mail address from that sheet we have posted at work and check it out, I forgot when I left yesterday. 25% wouldn't be bad but I was really hoping to pay it off over 12 months because I'd also like to upgrade my TV (looking at 1080p and 120hz). There's no cost to shipping on orders over $75 for us.

If both PC or MAC produce the same results then I'll go where the deals are. What I liked about the HP's is that I could easily and cost efficiently upgrade it. If I decided down the road I'd like to game, then I could do so easily.

They have a good deal on the HP6452F, tower and monitor combo for $1000.

I figured this with a good video card and some more RAM would be enough.

I can see Morfanos is a die hard Civ fan lol, Notice Battlefield 2 :smileyhappy:, TImeshift (meh), C&C3, CoD4, Dirt and Orange Box there.

Nice desk :smileywink:

I fail to have a desk currently because I have been to lazy to build it (its in pieces in my room) and currently with a lack of a computer that I own myself.

Well, before Civ 4, I actually never played the Civ series BUT I was a die hard fan of the Master of Orion series...that is, until they made the third, which wasn't good at all:smileysad:. Now, there's no BF2 box on that desk and to be honest, I've never been a big fan of that series. As for the complete list of games boxes you CAN see here:
-World in Conflict
-Colin McRae: DiRT
-Splinter Cell: Double Agent
-Civilization IV collector's edition and the two expansions
-Call of Duty 4(wonder how you managed to see that one:smileysurprised:)
-Crysis
-The Orange Box
-Unreal Tournament 3
-F.E.A.R.
-Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Edition
-Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath
-Oblivion and all of the expansions
-TimeShift (got it at a bargain price, it's a nice game for that price)
Until next time,
