Hi , Hoping someone can help me with a question i have. Im looking to buy a the refurbished
HP Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Desktop Computer computer off the future shop website. meets all minimum requirements for the program im buying with the exception that I will need to put a separate video card that was direct x 10 capable. This computer appears to have the correct available slot. However the specs indicate it does not have HDMI. If the new video card has an HDMI does this solve the problem?? Also I am planning on hooking the computer up to my lcd tv screen and operate with a wireless keyboard.
Will this model computer be capable of handling this upgrade as well as being hooked up to an lcd tv with audio? and wireless keyboard.
any help appreciated,
Clueless

Most (if not all) modern video cards will either have an HDMI adaptor or come bundled with a DVI to HDMI adaptor, so HDMI shouldn't be a problem.
When upgrading a video card make sure your power supply can handle the additional power requirements

What sort of software are you planning on running? I've heard fairly mixed reviews on the "using your hdtv as a monitor" front, mostly with respect to gaming. Most people seem to agree that the larger the screen, the less enjoyable the experience. Most criticism was in the area of text.... apparently the larger the screen, the less readable it actually becomes. Also, people who enjoyed running games on their hdtv mostly seem to be running at least mid to higher end pc's... This I can't speak to for certain, so hopefully someone in the know can correct me if need be, but don't the general requirements for a proper display increase, at least to an extent, with the size of the screen?
Definitely heed MayA200's advice re: power supply though. Looks like this model is 365 watts - that's pretty low. Many mid-range and most high end cards will need more.

thanks for your replies.
i am planning on running a flight sim called XPLANE that requires a minimum of 2gb, 2mhz processor and a dedicated vram. i have bought the video card and it does appear to have a hdmi output and requires a pcie slot that this computer appears to have. it says nothing about the power requirements of the videocard in the manual however.
the tv i have is a new sony 46 inch lcd tv.
i am not worried about it being ultra high quality but just wanna be able to run it with without spending a ton on a new gaming computer or having to buy a new computer screen as well. will the audio work if i hook it up tomy lcd tv via the video card?
thanks again for all your advice.

That card actually has extremely low power consumption, so you'll be fine on that end. It looks like it's mainly branded as a blu-ray/dvd media card though.
It looks like basically you are just coming in with the "minimum requirements" for the flight simulation. To be honest, your probably not going to get the experience you hope for. It's a flight simulator, but I can't imagine with this machine that the game is going to feel very "smooth", and realism is the key right?
You're especially going to be worse off on the 43" screen. To make up for being at minimum settings, I believe you would have to lower your resolution toreduce the choppiness of the gameplay. Those pixels are going to be huge on your screen, it might really detract from the experience.
If you look at the specs on the simulator, I think someone here could probably help you bump up to a better pc that could max this game out (they aren't very high) for not a whole lot more $. I could be wrong, but I really imagine you want to hit higher specs on this simulator to get the experience you are probably hoping for out of it

thanks for the advice. its the first gaming experience ive been involved with so any advice is appreciated. are there any computers you would recommed from future shop.. refurbished or not that you would recommend that i could add this video card to and hook up to an lcd tv and use a wireless keyboard.?? im guessing going with the duo core 3 mhz, 2 or more gb and a pci e slot?? some computers that seem better seem to be missing one or more of the minimum requirements... anything under 400 ??
thanks

this machine is actually pretty decent - http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/acer-acer-a
and its on sale right now, sadly it wouldn't be a good idea to put your 5450 in it though as it comes with a 6450 which is a superior card to the 5450 (not to mention it allows for AMD dual graphics - it can work in tandem with the APU to create a better gaming experience)
