Hello Experts,

I visited my neighborhood Futureshop yesterday afternoon, and much to my disappointment, the basic install has been increased from $50 to $70.   However, upon reading on the Futureshop website what a basic install includes, I am hoping there's a possibility that additional hardware (and not just the installation costs of the hardware) such as a kit or harness is included in the new, higher costs. 

If someone could shed some light on this, I would appreciate it.

The increase cost is to go inline with the new vehicles that are coming out (more expensive to do stuff and more risk).

But if you still roll into my shop with a 1996 Dodge Neon - I will charge you much less as it's less complicated, and not as many computers or sensitive things in the vehicle.

But if your coming in a 2010 Chevrolet with bose system, onstar, steering wheels controls..... the full deal - then you will be looking at the new price.

But don't be afraid to ask to talk to an installer and associate to get a price based on your vehicle, and the amount of time it will take to do the install, and risk involved (ex. BMW more expensive vs. dodge truck).

but no the parts will still have to be purchased separate from the install. This is because some vehicles will only need basic parts and others may need $200 plus interface modules to do the install properly. So they will probably never be included in the install fee, as all vehicles are not the same.

Yesterday evening I popped over there again and spoke to the associate in Car Audio.  Let's just say I left a satisfied customer and not without an installation voucher
