I was speaking with someone about installing a car alarm and they said that i cant install an alarm with a stock remote starter.. He also said that i have to take out the stock starter if i wanna install a new after market alarm .. Can someone confirm this and if you can help with an alarm only like a viper or something.. An alarm without a remotestarter . Thanks

you can install it no problem.

The issue is - when the car is armed and then remote started, the alarm will sense this and start going off.But everything else should work fine.

I would suggest going with a starter/alarm combo to avoid this kind of hassle.

Yes this is true , if the car is equipped with a remote start  already it is hard to do, but if the aftermarket has an external impact sensor you could take the ground wire for the external impact sensor and diode isolate this to an ignition wire in the car when the key is in the off position the IGN rests at ground  providing a ground for the impact sensor when the key is turned on or the car is remote started the Ground for the impact sensor is removed but shunted from positive input with the Diode, ensure the Band or Cathode of the diode is facing the correct way This should prevent the impact sensor from getting any vibration from an engine start and possibly prevent the aftermarket alarm from going off

yep that's a cool trick. But what about the alarms with ignition sensing?

Yeah Agreed Man if the Alarm system is ignition or voltage sensing than this will not work , I have tried to do the same trick with the main ground from the alarm isolated to ignition as a ground when the ignition is in the off position isolated with a 6 amp diode some systems dont mind this  but certainly better to have an alarm start combo  less hassle .
