I just installed a pair of Infinity 3 way 6x9's in my Dodge Ram. The truck came with the Infinity system with 6x9's in the front doors and they were sounding tired so thought i would put in a pair of new ones. Bought the Reference 9633's and installed them. They sound terrible, worse than stock by far, what could be the problem? They sound blown, the base is totally distorted.

The front door speakers are only supplied with bass freq from the factory infinity amplifier.
If you are not willing to replace the entire system, I would just replace the speaker with a factory replacement speaker.
But if you want more high frequencies, I would just add some stand alone tweeters.
If you want more bass get a subwoofer.
