Re: installing starter/alarm

I recommend you return to the vendor to do the install. This will ensure you get full warranty coverage if the installation or alarm has problems.

All our basic service prices can be found here ->> ConnectPro

Anything above that it would be best to contact your local FutureShop Store and ConnectPro Install bay for accurate quotes.

Also most starter or alarm manufactures won't warranty units unless they are purchased and installed by a confirmed retailer/ shop. So if you buy the unit from 'some guy', or off (competitor) - there will be no warranty on the unit. So unless you got a sick deal for like $20 for a starter or $40 for a starter/alarm, I'd probably stay away.

Also Yes most vehicles past 07 will require a interface module to get the car to start. This is due to security features that stop the car from starting with out the required key.

  That being said we do have modules for about 99% of cars that safety interface with your car so a remote starter or alarm can be installed and function well.

If you are looking for a quote please contact your local store for a quote, as prices do change with promotions and instore deals.

But if you are in the Oshawa or Whitby areas Please call:

Oshawa FutureShop -> 905-433-4455 ext 268 or 270

Whitby FutureShop -> 905-438-7950

or drop by I'd be happy to say hi!!!

Forgot to say  - YES, we will install all alarms and starter no matter where you bought them!!!

Re: installing starter/alarm

Future Shop will install 3rd party products not sold in store and charge standard labour rates, however there is some discretion involved where the ConnectPro technician is concerned.  :smileyhappy:  I've been doing this long enough to learn that there are good, reliable brands out there, and there also certain brands that I avoid.  That's not to say if you bring your own remote starter to a Future Shop the installer will refuse to put it in, necessarily, but for your money you're far better off going with a reputable brand name.  Other things your installer will consider is whether the unit is complete, the condition of it and whether the install manual is present, or at least obtainable online.

As far as the 2-way remote starters we sell, you have a number of options.  For basic 2-way functionality (no LCD screen, just blinking LED + audible confirmation), look to the Viper 5301-2LE at $239.99 installed, or the Compustar 6200S starter module with the 2-way LED remote pack at $249.99 installed.  The Nordic NS-2432TW-FM at $249.99 installed is probably the best option in that price range, as it has an LCD remote that's a little more intuitive to use, and it also has the best range out of the three (up to 3500ft).  If you want to take a step further, you can pair the Compustar 6200S module with the LCD remote pack at $299.99 installed which will give you dual 2-way LCD remotes and up to 3000 feet of range.  And if range is your main concern, you can pair the same Compustar module with the RF-2W8000FM remote pack  at $349.99 installed which will give you one 2-way and one 1-way remote with up to 5000 feet of range.

Bear in mind these prices cover basic install only...  For an '06 Malibu you will need a bypass module to get around the factory-installed immobilizer which will run you a minimum of $140, possibly more if you're looking at interfacing the convenience features such as power locks, power trunk release, etc.  Hope this helps!
