Re: How do you turn off the blue french keys on the keyboard...

If you don't write in French at all, I recommend disabling the French keys permanently. To do this, click Start, then enter your Control Panel. Under the Clock, Language, and Region heading, choose 'Change keyboard or other input methods' then, click the 'Choose keyboards' button. In the window that comes up, ensure that 'English (US)' is the default keyboard you'd like to use. If it isn't already, choose it, then click Apply at the bottom of this window. Then, you'll want to Remove all Canadian keyboards in the box below. There's often a Canadian (English) keyboard, a Canadian (French) keyboard, and a Canadian Multilingual Standard that can all be removed. Once you're done with this window, click OK. You should never have to worry about typing French letters again (though you may need to restart any programs you've been typing in for the change to take effect).

If you don't want to remove the French input, you can instead toggle between the different keyboard languages by holding Left Ctrl and tapping Left Shift. Each time that keyboard combination is pressed, Windows will cycle through your chosen keyboard languages. Or, there's usually a language bar down towards the bottom right side of the screen, next to your system tray, which looks like a small keyboard. You can also click on that to change your current keyboard language, as well.

Hope that helps!
