My laptop is saying "No bootable device -- Insert boot disk and press any key", what do I do?

I would take the machine to have it serviced.....  sounds like your hard drive may be corrupted.

 

Hope your data is backed up and ideally image ghosted.

Thanks for posting.
You may also want to ensure that there is no CD/DVD disc inserted and disconnect any USB devices as well. What happens sometimes is that the boot order is set to start the computer from disc or USB, and if you have forgotten a cd/dvd in the drive it may be trying to boot your system from a music or game/application disc....

 

If no discs are present and no USB drives are attached, then yes; by all means take it in for a diagnostic, as that error indicates a failed HDD
