Make sure connections are plugged in firmly.

Do you travel with your laptop a lot?  You could have a broken wire in the cable.  That happened to me once.  Luckily if was still in the warranty period and I was able to get a replacement power supply.

If you are outside of the warranty, you could get a universal power supply.

Re: My laptop will not acknowledge the power cord is plugged...

I have found that it is actually not the power supply cable, as it works with other laptops in the house.  It is a universal one that I have had to go get as the original had stopped working.  thinking that the cord for the original was damaged I replaced it.  The new one is doing the same thing with this one laptop leaving me to believe that it is where the cord plugs into the laptop that is buggered up.  If have found in the last day or two that if I wiggle the connection it will charge, but now it will not do that at all.

Yeah, if the cord's working on other laptops, but multiple cords aren't working with yours, I'd suspect the DC jack has become loose or faulty.

Is the laptop still under warranty or Product Service Plan? This is generally something that'd be covered.
