Does the computer still receive power through the power cable? (The easiest way to find out is to remove the battery, then plug the power cord in, and see if the laptop still powers on.)
If the power cord does not power the laptop, there's likely an issue with the power cord itself. Future Shop sells some universal power adapters which can replace a faulty cord. Or, if your laptop is covered by the Product Service Plan, the power cord is covered, and a replacement can be ordered for you at no charge.
If the laptop still powers up even without the battery, and simply doesn't charge the battery, it's likely that the battery itself has worn out. Future Shop does not sell many batteries in store; you can try the laptop manufacturer's web store, or see if Future Shop Parts Central at 1-855-407-0151 or sales@FSPartsCentral.ca can source your battery and ship it to you.
Hope that helps!

- does any light show up on the laptop?
- is your laptop power brick connections tight?
- is the battery properly inserted and locked?
