Re: computer dead

It's difficult to say exactly what the problem is without the actual error messages the blue screen gives you, and without the computer itself handy for testing and diagnostics.

Since your computer is still covered by the Product Service Plan, your best bet is to bring your computer to your nearest Future Shop to let the technicians there determine the issue.

Re: computer dead

My first choice is to bring the computer to a repair shop. However if you don't want to bring it in, another choice is to boot off a second operating system to see if the hardware is OK. To clarify.... I would get Ubuntu on a USB key (Ubuntu is FREE). To see if the computer starts up OK and you can see the files on the drive. Then you know it's the drive contents that is at fault and not the hardware. Hope you have a recent backup of your data.

Re: computer dead

Yes, definetely if it's an extended warranty through Futureshop, take the computer into the technicians at any Futureshop location for them to run a diagnostics on it.  If it's a hardware related problem, it should be covered under your warranty.  If it's a software related issue, they will provide options and a quote for resolving the issue.

Hope that helps

Re: computer dead

Sounds like it's most likely a Hardware failure to me. That being said Craig pretty well covered the ebst course of action to take at this point.
