disable tap-to-click on an HP laptop with the ALPS pointing device

I just bought a new HP laptop with the ALPS pointing device and I can't figure out how to turn off the tap-to-click option. Is there even a way to turn it off? I'm usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out, but I just can't seem to figure this one out. Please help!!

Thank you!

Check the mouse settings, further check the properties of the apls pointing device. You should be able to get the the apls device settings from the mouse settings. If you cannot find it, post back, and I'll check into my laptop.

Yes, tapping on the touchpad can be disabled.

Click Start -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> Device Settings -> Settings button -> Tapping -> Remove the checkmark from 'Enable tapping.' This should make the change instantly, as in, you won't be able to tap the 'OK' button to accept your change.

Awesome. I finally got it to work. Thanks guys! I think my issue is that when I disable the tapping, I was still able to click OK with the touchpad, so it was throwing me off. I tried it again, and it actually works. yipee!

Thank you!!
