6 yr old Sony 40 inch wega tv has blue spots all over. Even if the tv is on for extended periods of time, it traces the letters on the screen in blue. How can I fix it?

Is it a tube TV or rear projection?

Did some searching and the only thing I was found was that it could be an optical block issue. Models: KDF-42WE655, KDF-50WE655, KDF-55WF655, KDF-60WF655, KDF-55XS955, KDF-60XS955, KF-42WE620, and KF-50WE620...apparenlty these models had the issue. Sony was offering to cover the charges up unitl Dec 31, 2008.
