all of a sudden the cc is on the tv. we dont have a digital box, just cable hook up. we have the original remote. have found the features menu, and the cc line, but it only says about customizing it, not deleting it, plse help

What is the make/model of TV?

Certainly somewhere in the manual must be an explanation for how to turn closed captioning on and off.
