ALPINE supported steering wheel command?????????????????????

Hi to all car audio maniac out there,

I have plans to buy an Alpine navigation unit (IXA-W407 or INA-W900) from Future Shop soon.  I want to know what steering wheel command are available from those head units through the steering wheel mini jack.

I plan to buy a new car who's going to have Bluetooth button on the steering wheel, and I want to use the PTT (Push to Talk) button.

In case you ask, the steering wheel interface I plan to buy is the AXXESS ASWC that support those new commands but I wonder now if the ALPINE might be the limitation.

Any help is appreciated,

Charles

If a car comes with Bluetooth built in. When you remove the factory stereo you will lose these features. So just make sure the deck you get has bluetooth built in and not just bluetooth 'ready'. As it will need a separate module for bluetooth. But yes most alpine decks have the steering wheel 'jack' in the back. Usually the steering wheel modules go for $129.99 and up depending on the company and how many commands it will do. Also this will be a special order part so talk to your connect pro installer for more details. you didn't provide me with the type of car you will be getting. But check out here www.pac-audio.com and see if the car is listed with the steering wheel control. Then it may list the commands.

Re: ALPINE supported steering wheel command?????????????????????

Hello Installer!

Thanks for the detailed info.  I understand pretty well what you're talking about, I'm not a professional installer just because I'm too slow but the skill is there. :smileywink: The Alpine I'm looking after would be the INA-W900.  The Bluetooth module is separate (KCE-400BT) but looking at the radio videos on youtube and the manual, it seems the made a tight fit.

As for the control interface, PAC doesn't support the phone options for ALPINE probably because the PAC is limited as of number of addresses.

PAC =    Alpine
1 Vol Up
2 Vol Down
3 Mute
4 Preset Up
5 Preset Down
6 Source
7 Track Up
8 Track Down
9 Power
10 Ent/Play
11 Band/Program

On the other hand, the AXXESS ASWC offer up to 18 addresses and the phone options is there but see the note.

1. Volume Up

2. Volume Down

3. Seek Up/Next

4. Seek Down/Prev

5. Source/Mode

6. Mute

7. Preset Up

8. Preset Down

9. Power

10. Band

11. Play/Enter

12. PTT (Push To Talk)

13. On Hook

14. Off Hook

15. Fan Up

16. Fan Down

17. Temp Up

18. Temp Down

* Note: Remember not all radios will have all these commands. Please refer to the radios’ owners manual for specific commands recognized by the radio.

Bottom line, just don't want to buy 1500$ of material and find out that it will not work.  I called Alpine and them self don't know.

Is there a way I can get this info?  Do Alpine have installer support were we can get literature on this?

BTW Car would be Camry or Legacy or Sonata 2010

Thanks,

Charles
