Installing a new double din deck in a 2005 Nissan X-trail - harness and bracket required

Hi, I want to replace my double din factory deck in my 2005 nissan x-trail with a clarion double din ipod/usb deck.  I can't find any information about the X-trail factory deck online.  What harness will I need to buy and should it fit clean without having to buy a mounting bracket?

Thanks

You will need the standard '95 and up Nissan wiring harness, as well as antenna adapter.

Bestkits does not list a mounting kit for your vehicle and doesn't look like you will need one, however, Metra does list a kit. I would suggest you get your installer to take a look at your vehicle and verify whether or not you will need to get a kit before purchasing the Clarion deck.

Thanks Stu, I still can't get a concrete answer, I went by my local futureshop and was told I needed an install kit to install a single din deck, when I said I was installing a double din the sales person couldn't tell me and the install guy wasn't in.

I measured the face of the new Clarion CX400 deck and it's shorter and narrower than the stock nissan 6 disc plus cassette face by a full quarter inch.  Is that what a mounting kit is for to fill in the gaps on the face?

The Metra kit was just a trim piece that included side mounting brackets judging from the picture. You may need this then if the size of the stock deck is larger. Unfortunately, I can't offer much more advice without taking a look at it, so I would still suggest getting it in to your installer to take a look at. Considering calling the store and booking an appointment, let the installer know what you want to get done and they can book a time to at least take a look at the vehicle, or make time for the install as well.

Let me know how it turns out, other users may be able to use the information as well :smileyhappy:
