Replacement stereo - 2005 Custom Nissan Pathfinder

[ Edited ]
I need some advice on replacement speakers for a SEMA show truck which is tricked out with Rockford Fosgate; including head unit (RAVDVD2) and all speakers with the exception of the 2 factory woofers in the hatch area (factory enclosure) and the 2.5" speakers in the dash which are factory. Budget is $1500 - 1750 for all speakers, amp, & installation. Why?....half the speakers in the truck are blown including door speakers and one of the 6.5" woofers in the hatch.

I will be purchasing another head unit which most likely will have a 7" flip out unit that connects to another 7" screen on the headliner (factory). I would like to use the factory woofer box which has two 6.5" woofers in the hatch area - someone suggested putting two shallow 8" pioneer woofers however I am not sure if its just better to try to put a bigger speaker such as a single 12 pioneer shallow sub or go with something completely different. The intent is to stray from putting a massive big box in the hatch area - although i am open to suggestions.

  **** 2.5" Dash + 6 3/4" X 4 Doors + 1" tweets X 2 Rear Doors + 6.5" X 2 Woofers Factory Rear Hatch

All advice appreciated.
Thanks

Project Pathfinder

What I would do in this scenario is head down to the shop and have them work up a quote for you.  It's easy to quote prices for the product but without actually having the vehicle in the shop - they won't be able to tell you how much for labor (if it's custom).

Rockford makes a nice pair of Punch speakers that get super loud but still sound clean with the proper amount of power on them.

Does the truck currently have a factory OEM system installed or is it an aftermarket system?

If it is the OEM system (meaning it came with the vehicle from the dealership) then you will also need to upgrade your amplifiers as the OEM amps are made specifically for the speakers in the truck.

Good luck!

good question about current set-up!

If it's a factory set-up right now, then you should look into Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY so that you can add after-market amps with new speakers. Also, make sure that if you get a new head-unit, that it has at least 3 pairs of RCA preouts. Many flip-outs have just 2 pairs. So just watch out for that. Rockford Fosgate mids are alright, but Future Shop doesn't carry them. Future Shop carries Energy and Infinity as their top brands for speakers. I'd suggest you go into your local store and see which you like best. If you decide on going with the Energy brand, then I'd recommend the ENC650CV component set for the front and ENC650X for the rear. If it's the Infinity that you like better, then go with either the Kappa  62.9i or the 6020CS for the front, and 6022i for the rear. I think that the Exile X600.4 would be good to power either the Energy or the Infinity speaker set. You'd probably get better quality with the Energy, but either way it's way under $1000 for a set of four speakers and an amplifier, and you can probably bargain in the price of a wiring kit and a pair of extra RCA cables (under $200). I'd recommend you visit Future Shop to see what kind of a package deal you can get to include installtion as well.

The vehicle is in the shop at the moment, therefore i am using the time to plan prior to rolling into FS or where ever.

The sound system is all currently custom - not stock

No model numbers except the head unit which is a RAVDVD2. Speakers I dont recall the model numbers - they would be from 05 product line. Just remembered - all the speakers which are RF are probably from the "Power" line. (they are all silver)

Never heard of Boston acoustics...JL however I have heard and can attest to the quality/clarity of their products. JL's all around might not be a bad idea.

Thanks.
