Hi. I'm looking for any advice/suggestions on burning movies for playback on my Sony BDP-S350 Blu Ray player. I can download movies (avi) and burn to a DVD-R disc using the Sonne DVD Burner but they will not play back on my Blu Ray player. Do I have to purchase a Blu Ray burner and, if so could you recommend a reasonably priced unit that's reliable and performs well ?   Thanks, Brian.

The basic problem is that the BDP-S350 is not designed to play AVI files burned to any medium - DVD or Blu-ray.

What you will need to do on your computer is use software to convert the AVI file to DVD - in other words, create a DVD playable on any DVD player. That is not the same as burning the AVI file itself on to the DVD. Do a web search on the words "avi to dvd" and you will find lots of information on this topic.
