Hey all,
I have a pretty simple question (I hope) in regards to this HD satellite box, When viewing an hd channel does the box stream the appropriate resolution automatically? The reason I ask is that I've noticed on the front there is what appears to a small red over ride button behind a door. If I press it, the display on the box says "480i" "720p" etc.
It would be a pain to switch the resolution on the box everytime I wished to view an hd channel.
Thanks in advance.

In brief, the DSR505 user manual states:
"...the output resolution can be toggled between 1080i, 720p, 480p 480i, and native modes.Native mode (displayed on the receiver as 0000) is the original transmitted signal from the broadcaster. You should leave it on native mode unless your TV requires a specific mode."
Therefore, just leave the box set to "native mode" and it will send a 480i signal for the standard definition channels and 1080i for the HD channels. Your TV will automatically switch its input to match the signal it receives and will upscale/downscale that signal to match the native resolution of the TV's display - all without any intervention required from you.
