I am looking for a DVD/VHS recorder that could do bi-directional recording like the DVR620 . 

Are there any that have timed recording as well ?

From what I read. This recorder can only record by psuhing one button when conencted to receiver or cable t.v..

Is this correct ?

Yes, combo DVD/VHS recorders with the features you are looking for do exist, but they are not sold by Future Shop. It isn't too difficult to find a suitable model by doing a web search, but since there isn't much of a market for these devices it won't be easy to find one for sale off the shelf at a retail store.

The only model I see with in built tuner is Toshiba DVR7 DVD/VHS Combination Recorder.

But it is a discontinued model.

Any other brands has bi-directional recording with in built tuner and timer ?

I can't see anything online with same features.
